Why are the stems on my orchid dying back?

I got an orchid a little over a year ago. It's flowers dropped off last spring, by late summer it was showing some new leaves, and by late fall, there were some flower buds. Shortly after I moved in early winter, the buds/budding flowers started to fall off, and the stems died back. The leaves still look ok, though, and there seems to be recent (could be pre-move) stem growth, too. The enviornment isn't very different, but maybe a bit colder.

What puzzles me is that it was fine for a year.

Ideas?

Why are the stems on my orchid dying back?
OK these are just guesses from my expierience

Orchids hate cold!!! Even a slight exposure will hurt them.

They tend to hold blooms for 2-6 months

They like water every 5-7 days

More heat more water

Less heat,less water

I would trim back to new growth and remove any old yellowing leaves

The problem is overwatering and underwatering will show almost exactly alike

Make sure when you water that the pot can drain and keep your plant sheltered from drafts, hot and cold

Most people toss their plant when they are done blooming, I have found that with mine inthe enviroment they are in the less I mess with them the happier they seem.

Also they like to be repotted about every year, but I would wait and see if I could get it out of whatever strees it may be in first
Reply:What I've noticed with my orchids, the temperature, humidity and light make a BIG difference for blossoms. So if there was any difference of that with your move, or if it was cold outside when you moved, could do something. You didn't say what type of orchid you have either.
Reply:Hard to give an answer without knowing what type of orchid you have.
