**cymbidium Orchid Problem**?

i have a "mareene carter cymbidium" orchid and many people told me that it blooms during april -may but mine lookes like it has a spike, but i dont see any signs of the flower buds, i waited for 2 months but still no sign of the flower buds, it only grows the suraounding leafs from the spike..... its August now...is it normal...i put a bloom buster to see if it throws the flower, but no luck, my opion, is off season, but dont know to cut the spike or leave it.

**cymbidium Orchid Problem**?
Cymbidiums here is SoCal bloom in Spring. We have had the stray bloom spike come in early summer. Here they are are all grown outside. I was taught to feed a high nitrogen(greening) fertilizer in Daylight Savings Time and a high phosphorus(bloom) fertilizer in Standard Time. That is the best easy way to remember. Also they can tolerate more sun in the winter. Keep them under trees or shadecloth in summer.

So, it is good that your plant is putting out new green growth as that's what it's supposed to do now :-)

Don't worry.
Reply:Orchids require high levels of humidity, they should be kept in a greenhouse, the problem is probably humidity, try putting a humdifier next to it.
