How do you divide an orchid?

I have an orchid that has just bloomed. Somebody mentioned you can divide an orchid to produce two plants. How do you go about doing this?

I've seen a friend do this.She took a stem off the parent plant an dipped it in "rooting powder and then set it in a small glass on her windowsill.After a few days new roots form and then she potted the plant.That's it...there are so many sites on the internet for showing you how to do this.The best one I found is the one below.Good Luck!
