Orchid help please?

My Orchid has begun to drop its leaves. It's still flowering on 2 stems. What of fertilizer should I use? I don't know if there is a a special fertilizer for orchids or not. Also how long does the flowering season last before it goes dormant? Thanx for any help you can give.

Orchid help please?
Give theplant orchid fertilizer, sold at garden centers, also water once a week, plenty of light, but not direct sunlight, fertilize weekly, with a solution of 1/4 of what the directions say. Or every month full strength, as to directions.
Reply:How long the flowers last depends on the genus. Some will flower for six months, some for two weeks, some for a day.

Depends on the type of orchid whether it's dying or just going dormant. Dendrobiums will go dormant, Phalaenopsis and Cattleyas will not. If it's a Dendrobium, don't worry about dropping leaves yet. A Cattleya or Phalaenopsis: you can worry if it loses more than one or two in a short time period.

Anyway, get a good orchid food. Most garden centers have it. There are many formulas available. I'd say get a 20-20-20 and feed it weekly at the weakest concentration reccommended on the package.
Reply:Yes do what kanei says. Also always use orchid bark for planting. Most orchids will drop blooms after about 4-6 months of blooming. They will then go into a dormant phase about 3 and up to 6 months before they bloom again.

Continue to water and fertilize as if you still had those fantastic blooms that orchids are known for.
