Crypt orchid wiener dog?

my vet recently suggested that my wiener dog be neutered because he is a crypt orchid. he is one year old and is very playful. he has the best personality and i don't want him to change at all. i would appreciate any advice you may have as i am torn between whether to have the surgery or not.

You always have cryptorchid canines neutered. It prevents cancer. They are a very high risk for testicular cancer. It's just something that is always surgically corrected due to the cancer risk being so very high for them.
Reply:neutering does NOT change personality!!!! Personality is what it is...period..

You should not be "torn" on whether to neuter this dog or not...this dog needs to be neutered..by having a retained testicle he is at a far greater risk of cancer..for his health and well being get hom neutered asap.
Reply:Do you not trust your vet? Have you thoroughly researched the effects of neutering and found legitimate research that proves that neutering changes the personality of dogs?

Neutering will not change his playfullness or his personality. In most dogs, the only things that it changes, personality wise, is it can decrease aggression and wandering. It can also make them focus more.

You need to listen to your vet on this.
Reply:Cryptorchid means the dog's testicles have not descended and are still in the abdomen. The dog needs to have surgery to remove them because retained testicles cannot function properly and may become cancerous.

Neutering does not change a dog's personality. He will still be friendly and playful, but will be less likely to dig out of your yard searching for a female, less likely to get into a fight with other male dogs, and less likely to mark his territory inside your house.
Reply:neutering your dog will not change him. it will actually be better for him. those testicles that have not decended could become cancerous. get them removed.

As you willl see by reading this article, the chances of testicular cancers ar much greater in a dog with a retained testicle, due to the testicle being inside the abdomen at a higher temperature than they would if both testicles were in the scrotum. For your dog's health, please follow your vet's advice and have him neuter, as soon as possible. Thanks.
