Should I repot my orchid?

My orchid is in a clear plastic pot and the roots look healthy but 'squashed'. Do I repot it? I tried repotting the last orchid I had and it died, so I am a little reticent in case I do the same again!

Reply:Brilliant advice from Iain N above. Thanks. I also wondered and now I know. Bless him. Thanks for the question too.
Reply:Please do not report it the orchid will die
Reply:Take it back to the place of purchase if thats is possible

they will advise you or give you another.
Reply:Use special orchid bark or orchid compost. Please see this excellent website for details of repotting specific types of orchid: http://www.easyorchids.co.uk/site/

One important thing is not to overwater as this can cause your orchid to die. I have lost one myself due to over zealous watering ! I have one now which is potted in a clear pot in orchid bark and it gets watered only occasionally and it is doing fine.
Reply:I don't see any problem providing you use the proper orchid compost, I have done more than a dozen plants and never lost any perhaps you damaged to many roots.
