How do I take care of an orchid when it's drooping?

My roommate got an orchid recently, and she's been looking up information on how to take care of it. It's supposed to get sunlight, but not direct sunlight, and it's supposed to get sprayed once every morning and watered every day.

But one of the leaves is turning yellow [that means that it's getting too much light right?] and the flowers are drooping and the buds are drooping and starting to fall off. What can we do and what should we do?

How do I take care of an orchid when it's drooping?
Orchids are relatively easy to grown. Most problems come from not enough humidity..or the wrong soil. Humidity in their native habitats generall range in the 80-95% range. Humidity in the average unhumidified home typically ranges 20% or less in winter.

Orchids thrive in high humidity. The simplest way to augment the humidity is with a plant tray filled with gravel. You set the orchid on the gravel and fill the tray with water just up to the surface of the gravel. Orchids like moist roots ...not wet roots. The tray should ideally be 2-4 times the diameter of the orchid's pot. .

Most orchids thrive in extremely porous fast draining soils that stay moist but not wet. Good mixes often are composed of sand, vermiculite, soildand organic soil amendments.

To grow them successfully...think about where they grow in nature...jungles and rain forests. Diffused light, constant high humidity and fast draining soil that stays moist after you water it
Reply:Wrong - you would not want to water any orchid every day unless it is outside in a hot environment.

Yellowing of the leaves is most likely caused by the medium being soggy so there is no aeration for the roots.

It might not be too late if you quit overwatering.

You also need to know what type of orchid you have and ways to take care of it.

Reply:make sure you are not over watering, over watering will cause the leaves to turn yellow and die and droop. limit to watering only once a day, never in the afternoon, night is better, watering in the day will burn the plants throughout the day
