How to take care of an orchid?

My father passed away last week and someone sent an orchid. I have now idea how to take care of it and i want to make sure it lives forever.

How to take care of an orchid?
depends on what type it is. Some need high light while others will tolerate low light. A cybidium orchid does best at 45-50 degrees while a moth orchid (the most popular) likes to be 75-80 degrees. Nearly all orchids need a higher humidity than the average room. you can place a dish with pebbles and water under the plant to help with this.

If you can tell me what type of orchid it is I can give you more details. And i am sorry for your loss.
Reply:Sorry for your dad. As for orchid, you have to make sure it does,nt recieve direct sunlight in hot summer. But this does,nt mean that the plant can,t handle sunlight. In winter sunlight is no preoblem. Water good in summer but make sure that plant does,nt get to remain in water. While in winter don,t water too much. You can also keep plant indoors. It performs very well and you don,t have to worry about too much sun light that way.
Reply:Orchids are actually pretty easy to take care of. I have had one for about 4 years. Have never repoted it, but I do fertilize every time I water. Get some water soluble plant fertilizer and follow the directions for mixing. Don't let the soil go dry. Keep in a bright location, but not a sunny one. Orchids are jungle plants and don't thrive in the sun. Repot every once in a while and trim off dead roots, and leaves. And enjoy.

What a nice gift to remember your father with.
Reply:only make sure that this plant do not have to much water.

keep in a fresh place , watering only once a week.

sometimes when watering put few sugar on the water.
